Adelaide Metro and the Rail, Tram and Bus Union say trams will not run between 4.45am until 7.45am Friday.
All services including Glenelg, the CBD and to the Entertainment Centre will be affected.
Substitute buses will operate between Glenelg and the Entertainment Centre close by the tram line, and travellers have been encouraged to check the Adelaide Metro website for more details including the locations of substitute bus stops.
Adelaide Metro says tram services are not expected to resume until around 8:30 to 9am.
It’s the third time Torrens Connect drivers have taken industrial action this month.
They are demanding a three-year enterprise agreement, a 3 per cent wage increase per year or the consumer price index (whichever is greater), the removal of split-shift provisions from the enterprise agreement to reduce fatigue, and better training with a Certificate 3 Light Rail Operations for all operators.
“It is deeply disappointing that we have not been able to resolve this dispute,” Rail, Tram and Bus Union SA/NT Branch organiser Hayden Boyle said.
“Unfortunately workers have now reached the point where industrial action will escalate unless Torrens Connect comes back to the table with a decent offer.”
Boyle said progress had been made on “most” of the driver demands but warned that another strike was on the cards for September 5.
“We remain hopeful, however, that a breakthrough can be reached soon so that further service interruptions can be avoided,” he said.
