Striking tram drivers shut down services

A snap strike by some tram drivers employed by private contractor Torrens Connect will affect all Adelaide lines on Friday morning.

No tram services will operate between 10am and 3pm including trams both to and from Glenelg and the Entertainment Centre, as well as services throughout Adelaide’s Central Business District.

An Adelaide Metro statement said staff were informed industrial action is scheduled between 11am and 2pm, but tram passengers may experience some disruption to services from approximately 10am. Normal tram services are expected to begin running again after 2:30pm.

Substitute bus services will operate between Glenelg and Entertainment Centre from 10am to 3pm. These services will run in close vicinity to the tram line, passengers can check the Adelaide Metro website for more details and substitute bus stop locations.

Adelaide Metro issued a statement on Thursday afternoon saying staff are working to limit the impact to tram passengers, but encouraged customers to consider alternative transport arrangements, including catching tram substitutes or regular bus services, trains, or organising a lift with family or friends.

Train Services

Seaford/Flinders line for Glenelg tram passengers with park ‘n ride sites at Brighton and Oaklands Park railway stations.

Outer Harbor/Grange line, the Bowden railway station is close to services from the Entertainment Centre with parking available.
