Opera fans will have the chance this Friday to hear glimpses of the music composed for State Opera’s upcoming premiere production of Cloudstreet, based on the much-loved Tim Winton novel of the same name.
State Opera’s props crew is on a vintage treasure hunt, scouring second-hand shops, auction websites and backyards for items to re-create the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s setting of Tim Winton’s Australian novel Cloudstreet.
State Opera SA’s production of Cloudstreet is already on track to exceed box-office targets, with company artistic director Timothy Sexton promising audiences will be “gobsmacked” by what they hear.
