In a massive blow for the Crows, they decided not to risk Randall after club and league medical experts watched extra vision of the incident where she was hurt late in last Friday night’s qualifying final loss against Melbourne.
Adelaide women’s football boss Phil Harper said in a statement that Randall was “very disappointed” to be ruled out of the game.
“Chelsea is the heart and soul of our team and we would obviously love to have her playing in such a big game however, we must and will always prioritise the health and wellbeing of our people, it’s of paramount importance,” Harper said.
“While she has not presented with any symptoms, we have now seen vision showing different angles of the incident that according to club and league medical experts gives grounds for her to not play under the AFL’s concussion rules.”
Randall returned from two games out because of a rolled ankle for the qualifying final.
She has captained Adelaide’s three premiership teams, the first two alongside Erin Phillips.
Randall then was sole skipper last season as the Crows beat the Demons in the grand final.
