Commenting on the story: New Adelaide University unveils logo

VC David Lloyd said the AU monogram was “tilted forward to convey momentum and future focus with an angle that echoes the angles of the Adelaide Festival Centre”, and that “The monogram balances stability with agility.”

What a lot of rot. A typographic catastrophe wrapped in spin. North Terrace purple indeed.

The announcement is shy about who actually smashed those unfortunate letters together. Can the perpetrator be named?

The new Adelaide University logo is the dullest, most uninspiring and most nondescript logo I have ever seen. As a University of Adelaide alum, it is bad enough this government is green-lighting a merger between a top 100 university and one that barely registers on the rankings at all, but now the drivers of the merger are saddling it with rubbish.
