LIV Golf excitement tees off Friday

Last year’s event attracted wildly enthusiastic, capacity crowds across the three days. This year organisers are aiming even higher.

A lot has happened in the world of golf in the past 12 months.

Former golfing number one, Spain’s Jon Rahm joined LIV Golf to head up the new Legion XIII team, Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship and Bryson DeChambeau did his own heavy lifting at the recent 2024 Masters Tournament.

All three will be heading to LIV Golf Adelaide this Friday, where there’s also been lots of good things going on since the local event’s hugely successful debut.

For this year’s tournament running 26-28 April at The Grange Golf Club, LIV Golf Adelaide has unveiled The Flight Deck, a double-storey driving range allowing ticket holders unmatched views of the world’s best golfers perfecting their play.

Expect to see Dustin Johnson, Cam Smith, Phil Mickelson and many more up on the deck during the weekend.

Smith and fellow Australian Ripper GC player Marc Leishman kicked off the festivities off with a meet-and-greet in Rundle Mall last Tuesday.

Fans can get close to the action with 12 more viewing platforms added across the course, including at the iconic Watering Hole, the 12th hole.

Crowd capacity has been increased substantially for 2024. Last year’s event attracted more than 77,000 golf fans, with a sizeable 40 per cent coming from interstate or overseas.

The additional tickets mean there are still Friday and Sunday Grounds Passes available (letting ticketholders walk the whole course, access the Watering Hole, and grab a viewing spot against the rope), as well as a limited number of hospitality tickets.

The shotgun start each day, with all of the teams simultaneously teeing off at different holes, ensures non-stop action for all fans to enjoy.

Last year’s hole-in-one from Chase Koepka on the par 3 Watering Hole saw a spontaneous crowd celebration, proving this faster, louder type of golf is a sure-fire hit with spectators.

In media interviews, the players have been open about how much they are looking forward to returning or visiting for the first time, with the electric atmosphere adding to the tournament’s standing.

Fittingly, LIV Golf Adelaide was crowned Best Golf Event at the 2023 World Golf Awards.

Families are welcomed, with free entry for children under 12, and the Fan Village has doubled in size to allow more space for food, beverages, golf-related experiences and family fun.

LIV Golf Adelaide will also be broadcast live and free on 7 and 7Plus.

This year’s after-event concerts are big. DJ FISHER will headline Saturday’s après golf scene, with homegrown award-winning artist Tones And I set to light up the stage on Friday night, and Australian electronic duo Flight Facilities guaranteed to energise the crowd following the final day of play on Sunday.

It is promising to be another action-packed weekend.
