The impact of SAHMRI’s ‘Cheesegrater’ on Adelaide’s skyline is undeniable – what’s making an even greater impact is the life-changing research happening inside every day.

Now, anyone can own a piece of the ‘Cheesegrater’ while providing essential support for that research.

SAHMRI’s Windows of Hope campaign enables people to sponsor a virtual window and dedicate it with a personal tribute or message of hope for a healthier future.

As well as a dedicated virtual window, donors will be invited to exclusive Windows of Hope sponsor events inside the Cheesegrater, where they will hear directly from the people whose research their generosity is supporting.

Donors also receive regular updates about progress at SAHMRI and an official certificate of thank you for their commitment.

SAHMRI – South Australia’s independent, not-for-profit health and medical research institute –  opened just nine years ago but has already delivered wide-ranging and lasting health and wellbeing improvements.

SAHMRI is now Australia’s national centre for fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia – the most common non-traumatic cause of death for Australian children under five years old.

SAHMRI is pioneering a world-first intervention that reduces the number of babies born prematurely.

SAHMRI researchers have patented a world-first blood test that promises to unlock secrets to healthy ageing.

And SAHMRI’s Wardliparingga Aboriginal Health Equity Unit has laid the foundations for how to conduct culturally safe and responsible medical research that is informed and directed by Indigenous communities.

With this snapshot of how SAHMRI has improved health and health care in less than a decade, imagine what more the researchers can achieve over the next ten years with financial support through programs like Windows of Hope.

While SAHMRI and its researchers have a proud record of earning competitive grants from national bodies, including the National Health and Medical Research Council and Medical Research Future Fund, philanthropic donations are essential to driving innovations that accelerate what is usually a slow and steady process of research.

Only donations from the community can provide funding for projects that test a researcher’s intuitive hunch, which could unlock the door to discovery.

Only donations from the community can fill the funding gap to sustain talented early and mid-career researchers while they establish themselves in the highly competitive world of medical research.

Only donations from the community can help secure the cutting-edge technology essential for world-leading research.

A window sponsorship will make a difference donors can see but scarcely imagine. And the benefits will be there for us all to enjoy.
