Five businesses were inducted into the South Australian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame after winning their respective categories for the third consecutive year at the 2021 South Australian Tourism Awards last week.

Delivered by the Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA), the awards celebrated the resilience shown by the inductees: Beach Huts Middleton, BIG4 Renmark Riverfront Holiday Park, Kangaroo Island Safari, Seppeltsfield Barossa and the Willunga Farmers Market.

Oceanview Eco Villas won the Judge’s Choice at the awards.

TiCSA CEO Shaun de Bruyn said the awards mean so much for so many in the industry, which was reflected at the gala dinner through the many stories of resilience.

“All award recipients have proven themselves to be the best tourism businesses we have in our state, through a comprehensive process that involves detailed submission, site inspection and scoring from customer reviews,” he said.

“For businesses to win entry into the Hall of Fame this is particularly special as it demonstrates their commitment to provided business and visitor experience excellence over a sustained period.”

Woodhouse Activity Centre won gold for its Unique Accomodation and silver for Adeventure Tourism.

More than 30 categories were awarded to business and operators for their delivery of world-class experiences and quality service, all during a time of huge disruption because of the COVID lockouts and lockdowns imposed on South Australia.

Support for local tourism not only came from South Australians exploring their own state, but this year also saw a record number of 20,000 people casting their votes for the “Voters’ Choice Tourism Awards”.

Monarto Safari Park was one of the Voters’ Choice award winners and won silver for Adventure Tourism.

The two winners of the popular vote were BIG4 Renmark Riverfront Holiday Park, for its accommodation, and the Monarto Safari Park for its unique experience.

The Adelaide Zoo came out on top in the 2021 South Australian Tourism Awards, winning two major categories at the gala presentation.

The zoo won the Best Major Tourist Attraction and the Premier’s Service for Excellence awards.
