Travellers looking to get to the New Year’s Eve Big Bash League match at the Adelaide Oval or to celebrations at Glenelg can ride on public transit services for free this Sunday.

Adelaide Metro will run free buses, trams and trains from 5pm on Sunday 31 December until 6am on Monday 1 January, with the transport department encouraging revellers to leave the car at home.

However, due to New Year’s celebrations, Adelaide Metro said to expect “some service disruptions” including stop closures and bus detours.

Regular fare Adelaide Metro services will resume from 6am on Monday 1 January.

“To see in 2024, we are offering South Australians a free ride to their New Year’s Eve celebrations,” Minister for infrastructure and transport Tom Koutsantonis said.

“Whether you’re attending the Big Bash match at Adelaide Oval or joining the festivities across the CBD or at our metropolitan beaches, Adelaide Metro is your convenient and easy option for travelling to and from your celebrations.

“Embrace the year ahead and let us do the driving for you to help you stay safe this New Year’s Eve.”

For assistance, please call the Adelaide Metro InfoLine on 1300 311 108 (open between 7am and 8pm daily and all night on New Year’s Eve), or visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au.
