Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison said this afternoon that Tourism Tasmania’s chief marketing officer Emma Terry will take up her new SA role on January 9.

The government said that Terry had more than 20 years experience in strategic planning, brand development, communications and marketing, being the “driving force” behind successful campaigns to attract visitors while competing against bigger states.

She had also overseen Tourism Tasmania’s consumer digital transformation program experiences and delivered a range of tactical programs to support COVID recovery, the government said.

The SATC’s chief financial officer Stephanie Rozokos has served as interim CEO since July while a recruitment search was undertaken, and will continue until January.

Rozokos stepped into the role following the departure of former SATC CEO Rodney Harrex.

The new Malinauskas Government announced in July that Harrex was stepping down after nine years in the role.

Harrex led the SATC when it made the decision in October 2020 to axe the Adelaide 500 race, citing the impacts of the COVID pandemic and declining interest in motorsport.

Former Premier Steven Marshall said the race cost more than $10m to stage and the money spent would better be redirected elsewhere. Much of the race infrastructure was later sold off.

But the Malinauskas Government went to the state election promising to return the race to city streets, with the event now happening in the city in December.
