The latest alarm was raised just after 5:30pm on Sunday, with 37 firefighters and 11 vehicles responding as the First Street building burned and created a plume of smoke visible across northwestern suburbs.

It took MFS crews 30 mins to get the fire under control and stop it from spreading to nearby properties, but hours longer to extinguish numerous hotspots inside.

A nearby worker said she was frustrated the former cabinet factory wasn’t demolished promptly after it first burned in July, despite repeatedly raising the issue with Charles Sturt Council.

Another man who works at a neighbouring business said he was surprised there was enough fuel in the warehouse to burn a second time.

“There’s not much in there to burn I thought it had all been taken away,” he said.

“You would hardly know there was a fire yesterday now, they [investigators] are just taking lots of photos today up on the crane.”

A spokesperson for the MFS said there were two people in the warehouse at the time of the Sunday fire, and they escaped safely.
