As of today, the JobsSA site has been rebadged “IWORKFORSA.sa.gov.au” and expanded to include teaching and police jobs that weren’t included on the previous portal. The Government says the site makes it easier for applicants to search for vacancies and apply for jobs online.

It also signals a shift by the Government to a hard sell for public sector jobs, pitching flexibility, work-life balance, and the breadth of opportunities in the state’s public service.

With the look and feel of a commercial jobs site, the Government is hoping the portal will standardise recruitment advertising and avoid duplication across the public sector.

Commissioner for Public Sector Employment Erma Ranieri said the site was part of a push to position the public sector as an “employer of choice”.

It proposes six reasons to join the public service: contribution to the state, being part of a dedicated team, the values and diversity of the public sector, flexible working arrangements, new and interesting experiences, and the capacity to “learn and grow”.

Public Sector Minister John Rau said the Government wanted to “attract and retain the best and brightest people to the public sector”.

“This new website provides a portal to job seekers; as well as vacancies and testimonials, they will find information on programs specifically tailored to graduates and Aboriginal people,” he said.

The Government says agencies will continue to use external recruitment sites to advertise jobs.
