The fire at Yundi on the Fleurieu Peninsula is burning south through scrub and the Country Fire Service says it may pose a threat to people and property.

The CFS has urged residents to activate their bushfire survival plans but only leave if it is safe to do so.

Water bombers and ground crews are being used to fight the fire.
