Essential commissioners

The Essential Services Commission of South Australia appointed two new part-time Commissioners for five-year terms commencing 1 November 2023.

Amanda Heyworth is a Non-Executive Director of Housing Choices Australia, Ingenia Communities Group and Heritage and People’s Choice Limited.

She serves as Chair of UniSA Ventures and Centennial Park Cemetary Authority.

Heyworth has formerly served as Director of Phoenix Society, Playford Capital, SA Lotteries, Australian Centre for Renewable Energy and Savings & Loans Credit Union.

Rebecca Billings is a former Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and a former Director of Consulting, Strategy and Operations at Deloitte.

She served as a Senior Economist for the Department of Treasury and Finance, Victoria from 2006 to 2008 before joining Deloitte.

Billings is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently serves as a Member of the Deakin Economics Advisory Board for Deakin Business School.

New faces for Wirra Wirra

Three new Directors have been appointed to the Board of the family-owned wine and spirit producer RG & RT Trott Pty Ltd – trading as Wirra Wirra – as current Director Rick Allert steps down from the role after more than a decade.

Nikki Govan is the Chair of Green Industries South Australia and the Adelaide Economic Development Agency.

She is the Director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Australia Day Council.

Govan also owns and manages the Port Willunga restaurant Star of Greece.

John Hart is an experienced Director and has been a Chartered Accountant for more than four decades.

He currently serves as a Consultant for KPMG Australia and is a former Partner of Ferrier Hodgson where he specialised in the wine industry.

Matthew Deller has been the Chief Executive Officer of Wirra Wirra since August 2022, joining the wine and spirit producer from his role as Chief Global Sales and Marketing Officer at New Zealand winery Villa Maria.

He is the former Chief Operating Officer of TOR Napa Valley and the former Chief Wine Officer of Wine Access – a USA-based company offering wine clubs.

Appointed Associate Director

Steven Barnett has joined Oracle Insolvency Services as Associate Director. 

He joins the firm from the restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy services company Hamilton Murphy where he was an Associate Director.

He has formerly served as a Director for Insolvency Practitioner Support Services Pty Ltd and KordaMentha as well as a National Professional Standards Manager of the advisory and accounting firm Hall Chadwick.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA).

Dragway at The Bend General Manager Steve Bettes has tendered his resignation effective 11 December 2023.

Bettes brought Drag Racing to The Bend using more than 30 years of experience in the sport to initiate procedures fit for a new facility and providing input on construction since joining the team in May 2022.

He joined The Bend from the AEROFLOW Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Series in Brisbane where he was Series Manager from 2013 to 2022.

He is the former Managing Director of Calder Park Raceway (1988 to 1997), Motorsport Manager of Octagon International (2004 to 2005) and Managing Director of Willowbank Raceway (2005 to 2013).

New to National Pharmacies

National Pharmacies appointed Kimberley Bolton as General Manager of Member and Customer Experience.

Bolton joins the company from the Royal Automobile Association (RAA) where she worked for over a decade – starting as a Corporate Accountant in 2008.

She held senior roles with RAA such as Senior Manager of Strategy, Brand and Membership Marketing (2017-2021), Senior Manager of Strategy and Planning (2021) and Head of Claims Member Service (2022-23).
