Cyber security education support incoming for business owners

South Australian businesses will be supported with “accessible and affordable” cyber security education programs as part of the State Government’s $14.25 million Small Business Strategy to be released later this week.

To counteract a “worrying trend” of small and family businesses being impacted by cyber attacks – which doubled in the 2021/22 financial year with 22 per cent of businesses being hit – $500,000 will go towards the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre to deliver the Small Business Cyber Uplift Program.

The State Government hopes 100 small businesses will benefit from the program aiming to equip owners with the skills and knowledge required to implement cyber security measures as part of their business operations.

“Investing in the security of your data is just as important as investing in security for your premises and this program is designed to remove the uncertainty and burden for small businesses – coaching participants through the critical steps to implement cyber-safe systems and processes,” Minister for Small and Family Business Andrea Michaels said.

“South Australian businesses of all sizes are susceptible to cyber-attack and this proactive measure will empower business owners to protect their operations, reputations, and customer information.”

South Australian company chosen as first in Southern Hemisphere for net zero pilot

South Australian company Tucker’s Natural has been selected as the first food and beverage company in the Southern Hemisphere for Siemens’ Sigreen pilot – an emission-tracking and management solution assisting companies in reaching net zero emissions.

Sam Tucker, founder and managing director said he was thrilled Tucker’s Natural was selected as the first company in Australia to participate in the pilot project.

“Tucker’s Natural was founded on the principle of producing better-for-you baked products that are high quality, sustainable and local,” he said.

“Our Responsible Sourcing Program focuses on reducing social and environmental risks in our supply chain – and making sure our suppliers share our commitment. A key missing piece to achieving this has been the lack of emissions data across our supply chains.

“We look forward to using the data produced from the pilot to make decisions that support our goal of operating and developing our business in a sustainable and responsible manner.”

The pilot started this June and will run until October this year to exchange emission data along the supply chain – from sourcing raw materials and packaging right through to customers enjoying the end product – with the use of innovative technologies.

Living Choice backs Burke Urban’s Murray Bridge development

Living Choice has made a $100 million investment in Burke Urban’s Newbridge development in Murray Bridge, securing the southern sector of the master-planned residential community as a result.

The backing will deliver a range of architecturally designed two- and three-bedroom homes and a premium country club that will feature a gymnasium, cinema, indoor pool and an outdoor barbecue and activity areas, as well as secure caravan and motorhome storage.

The land acquired by Living Choice is approximately 22.3 hectares with civil works anticipated to commence in early 2024.

Situated in the geographical heart of Murray Bridge, Newbridge is slated to be a “connected community” for over 50s, with new golf fairways weaving through the centre of the neighbourhood.

“We are excited to welcome Living Choice to Newbridge and are confident they will deliver the high-quality standard of community-focused living that we intend to establish,” Burke Urban managing director Kym Burke said.

“We believe this will be a well-regarded addition to Newbridge and the broader Murray Bridge community.”

Living Choice already has an established presence in Murray Bridge and was behind the $60 million redevelopment of the Bridgeport Hotel.

The event will allow attendees to experience and invest in South Australian wine, which contributed 64 per cent of the total value of Australian wine exports in the year ending April 2023 according to the Bureau of Statistics.

The Malinauskas Labor Government is contributing to fund the event with the support of the South Australian Wine Industry Association, Australian Grape and Wine, the Australian Wine Research Institute, the University of Adelaide, Wine Australia and the Adelaide Convention Bureau.

Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison said the event is more than just a convention and is an opportunity to showcase South Australia to global wine industry leaders.

“With international tourism still recovering from the impacts of the pandemic it is incredibly important we continue to put South Australia on the world map at every chance,” she said.

“South Australia’s wine is a key driver of visitors to our state. As Australia’s wine capital and one of just 11 around the world, it is terrific to have representation at an international wine event – putting our state in front of the people who will help sell it.

“South Australia’s convention economy provides the rest of the world a window into our beautiful state.”

Vintage Chef Co. to relocate from Lyndoch to Gawler

South Australian hospitality business Vintage Chef Co. has announced it will be relocating its highly lauded café from Lyndoch to Gawler hoping to broaden its reach across metro and regional areas.

The business began specialising in catering in 2016 and has since expanded into meal prep as well as the addition of the Vintage Chef Café at the Chateau Yaldara.

With the relocation of the café to Starplex Gawler, Vintage Chef Co. has come a long way from its humble beginnings according to founder Teagan Carpenter.

“Over the years, the size and nature of the events have grown substantially and we have worked on some absolutely breathtaking events,” Carpenter said.

“I still pinch myself to see if this is all a dream.”

Now a multi-million-dollar business, the Vintage Chef Meal Prep division delivers 6000 meals all over Adelaide with multiple regional pick-up points.

“I wanted to create something that wasn’t on the market – fresh, home-cooked, restaurant quality food that tastes amazing and is convenient for those short of time,” Carpenter said.

The relocation is dated for July 17 and the café will offer a wide variety of healthy, nutritious meals for all to enjoy.
