The ride-sharing giant has been in the headlines for its aggressive play to establish its operation in Australia. The company says it has been stymied by what it describes as onerous startup costs in South Australia for its UberX business and blames an aversion by the State Government to supporting innovation.

Rohrsheim is Uber’s General Manager for Australia and New Zealand, and also hails from Adelaide. He will join leaders from companies who have achieved exponential growth in what has been dubbed the ‘new economy’ for a discussion around how South Australian businesses can achieve growth through disruption.

“Following our Business Index event in October last year, there was so much interest in what Uber’s David Rohrsheim said as part of the panel,” said InDaily Publisher Amanda Pepe.

“I am delighted that he will join our panel and continue the conversation as part of Disrupters.”

Rohrsheim  will join Andre Eikmeier of Vinomofo, Mark Bevan of soon-to-launch financial disrupter, Joust, Elaine Stead from Blue Sky Venture Capital and Dr Glyn Brokensha of recruitment firm Expr3ss!. Bernadette Schwerdt, author of Secrets of Online Entrepreneurs, will return home from Melbourne to facilitate the panel.

InDaily presents Disrupters on Thursday, 23 June at the Published ArtHouse in Cannon Street, Adelaide – click the link below for more details and to book tickets.
