Allan Hopkins, 44, was wanted in South Australia for alleged serious sexual offending involving a child under the age of 18.

Police first appealed for public assistance with the search on May 7, when Hopkins was believed to be in South Australia.

He was then believed to have travelled to Victoria, and late last week was believed to have travelled to Queensland.

Hopkins was also wanted for offending in several other states.

SA Police said on Monday morning that Hopkins had been located interstate and was in custody but there were no other details.

Detective superintendent Scott Fitzgerald spoke at a press conference on May 10, where he said Hopkins would be extradited to South Australia once apprehended.

Fitzgerald said Hopkins had previously been convicted of child sex offences and therefore was monitored under the South Australian Child Sex Offender Registration Act.

Hopkins is not currently the subject of an Extended Supervision Order but was subject to the conditions of the Act, which police said he had breached.
