Fraud charges over River Murray flood recovery grants
An Encounter Bay woman has been charged with falsely claiming thousands of dollars in grants set up to assist in the wake of last year’s River Murray flood.

Police allege the 47-year-old made false applications to the Department for Industry, Innovation and Science for the Early Business Closure Grant and Small Business Flood Recovery Grant between December 2022 and March 2023.
Detectives from the Serious and Organised Financial Crime Investigation Section arrested the woman at her home on February 19.
She was charged with one count of deception worth approximately $10,000, and one count of dishonest dealings with documents, estimated at approximately $6500.
The woman was bailed and will appear in Victor Harbor Magistrates Court on April 5.
