Police said the 87-year-old had been working on a tractor next to the Old Sturt Highway at Glossop on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called following reports he had been run over by the unmanned vehicle.

The Glossop resident was taken to Berri Hospital and later transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, but died from his injuries on Tuesday.

The state’s road toll is now eight, compared with 15 at the same time last year.
