Officers were called to the intersection of Old Princes Highway and Hein Road at about 7pm Sunday night after reports that a silver car had hit a motorbike and driven off.

The 45-year-old motorcycle rider was seriously injured and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The intersection was closed for several hours while Major Crash Investigators attended.
