The extra funding comes on top of the $8.8m allocated in this year’s budget for Ironside costs.
Attorney-General Kyam Maher said Operation Ironside was a significant criminal investigation.
“The level of expertise and resources required through all facets of the criminal justice system are unprecedented,” he said.
“This funding will help ensure that the wheels of justice run smoothly, and each case is given the attention it deserves as matters progress through the courts.”
Led by the Australian Federal Police, Operation Ironside targeted organised crime and led to the arrest of hundreds of people across the country.
In SA more than 100 people have faced significant drug charges and 13 have been accused of conspiracy to murder.
Other alleged offences include money laundering and firearms charges.
