Jetstar confirmed that flight JQ969, an Airbus A320 which took off from Brisbane Airport at around 7:30pm, was forced to land at Adelaide Airport at around 2am.

Flight radars reveal the aircraft turned around near Esperance in Western Australia before flying to Adelaide.

“A flight from Brisbane to Perth had to be diverted to Adelaide last night as a result of adverse weather conditions in Perth,” a spokesperson said.

“Customers recommenced their journey early this morning and arrived in Perth shortly before 9am. We sincerely apologise to customers for the delay and appreciate their understanding and patience.”

Passengers were not provided with overnight accommodation and instead were offered complimentary food and beverages while waiting to resume their flight to Perth.

Adelaide Airport has a strict curfew for large commercial airlines taking off or landing from 11pm to 6am but ministerial dispensation can be granted for exceptional circumstances.
