Peter McLaren will help support school principal Peter Kuss after the school was rocked by a series of disturbing incidents.

The violent videos posted online show multiple fights among students, as well as instances of younger students being bullied.

At the time, Premier Peter Malinauskas said an experienced former principal would need to be brought in “to support the school’s leadership and provide independent advice to the department on further action required”.

Most recently, McLaren has worked as a principal advisor to Renmark High School.

A government spokesperson said at this role McLaren “supported the leadership team to set leadership direction and drive school improvement”.

“As Principal of Ocean View B-12 College, Peter provided leadership for seamless integrated education birth to year 12, working with the community to achieve successful outcomes for all students,” the spokesperson said.

“Peter has an extensive track record in working with the community to effect sustainable improvement and has a strong commitment to equity and quality educational outcomes for all.”

McLaren has also worked on a school site on Kangaroo Island and was acting principal at Mount Gambier High School for the first two terms in 2021.
