Police today said that patrols followed a Ford Falcon into a cul-de-sac in Paralowie at about 9pm on Monday.

Two officers got out of their cars to speak with the occupants, but police say the Ford’s driver did a U-turn and attempted to drive between the two parked vehicles.

One officer was struck by the sedan before it sped off and suffered severe bruising to his leg and was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment.

Police found the abandoned Ford a short time later but the occupants had fled the scene.

It was followed by a report of a 36-year-old man found collapsed and unconscious in a nearby alleyway about 9.30pm.

Witnesses reported that the man had tried to open a resident’s roller door before walking into the alleyway.

The man remains in a critical condition in Lyell McEwin Hospital.

Police are investigating whether the man was an occupant of the Ford in the earlier incident.
