Police will allege they were called to Galloway Road at Christies Beach around 7.30am on Monday after reports a man had stabbed the driver of a silver Ford Mondeo before driving off in the vehicle.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre in a serious condition, police said.

Police said the car then collided with another car at O’Sullivan Beach Road, Lonsdale about five minutes later, with the suspect then entering a Devon Street business and allegedly threatening another man with a knife before stealing a white Toyota Corolla.

Police said the car was chased by patrols on to Dyson Road and Flaxmill Road before the car’s tyres were spiked and it stopped near the Main South Rd/Beach Rd intersection.

A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with attempted murder, dangerous driving, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

He was refused police bail and will face the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
