Police were called to Galloway Road at Christies Beach at 7:30 today after reports a man had stabbed the driver of a silver Ford Mondeo before driving off in the vehicle.

The victim was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre in a serious condition, a police statement said.

Police said the car collided with another car at O’Sullivan Beach Road, Lonsdale about five minutes later, with the suspect then entering a Devon Street business and allegedly threatening another man with a knife before stealing a white Toyota Corolla.

Police said the car was chased by patrols on to Dyson Road and Flaxmill Road before the car’s tyres were spiked and it stopped near the Main South Rd/Beach Rd intersection.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted murder, dangerous driving, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

He will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.
