Today’s Budget will be the last for Lucas – who has been in parliament since 1982 – before he retires at the March 2022 state election and will set the scene for the campaign.

The Budget’s bottom line should be better than expected a year ago, due to increased GST and stamp duty payments, but is set to show a significant deficit and record levels of debt.
