Sue Michael: Mid Northern

Artist Sue Michael presents a series of landscape paintings depicting the blinding dust storms, the heat, cold winds and drought as shaping forces of South Australia’s Mid North.

Michael has created the domestic scenes using a “mix of real estate images and her own photos, collaging them to protect the owners’ privacy.” Her latest exhibition has been described as depicting “gentle perseverance in a human community.” The artwork is also an “innovative way of describing places and understanding their inescapable importance for human experience and human life.”

Sue is currently the resident creative with the Mid North Knowledge Partnership under the supervision of Prof Dean Carson and Heidi Hodge. She is also at the halfway mark of a PhD in Visual Art, by Major Studio Project, at the University of South Australia.

This event is presented by The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre.
