Roach, who was inducted into the SA Music Hall of Fame last year, will be accompanied by fellow Indigenous singers Nancy Bates and former X Factor contestant Ellie Lovegrove for the show in Gladstone Square on March 5.

Another highlight of the two-day Desert Fringe program announced today will be HART, a theatre work by Noongar man Ian Michael based on testimonials from members of the Stolen Generation. It premiered at last year’s Melbourne Fringe and will have a season at Tandanya Theatre from March 2-13 during the Adelaide Fringe.

Desert Fringe will also include art exhibitions, a twilight arts market, a family show, and a Desert Fringe Club featuring performers such as American contortionist Leo the Human Gumby, Argentinean circus duo manaAmano, SA musician Nathan May, Port Augusta’s Desert Voices choir and the Dusty Feet Mob.

Adelaide Fringe director Heather Croall says the event, now in its ninth year, gives regional audiences a slice of Fringe in their own backyard.

“It is made even more special knowing that this will be the first time Archie Roach has ever played in Port Augusta.”
