The 2024 Agricultural Town of the Year has seen a record number of nominations.

In total, 73 South Australian towns have been nominated by the public for the accolade, which highlights the significant contribution the agricultural sector and regional communities make to our state’s economy, and our world-class and innovative agricultural practices.

The program is an initiative of the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

Satisfyingly, the nominated towns span the state, from the south-east to the west coast to the far north.

Interestingly, they also span the alphabet: from American River and Auburn to Yankalilla and Yorketown. (Note to town planners – Z is a lovely starting letter for any new town!)

Now it is up to each member of the public to vote for their favourite town.

That vote could help the town be selected as one of the Top 10.

Towns in the Top 10 will then go through an independent judging process to determine the three finalists – with one receiving the title of the 2024 Agricultural Town of the Year.

The winning town will be presented with a certificate and trophy by the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Clare Scriven.
