Alisa Fraser, al.ive body co-founder and CEO, was named First Among Equals at the 40 Under 40 Awards for 2023.

Fraser started her career as a police officer before becoming a household name with twin sister, Lysandra, after winning The Block reality TV series in 2013.

“This experience provided us with the opportunity to transition into an interior design career,” Fraser said.

“I believe that one path leads to another, and the al.ive body journey began while we were styling our project in Albert Park, Victoria, in 2018.

“While looking for a specific type of product, I realised there was an opportunity to create a new kind of body-care product that was design-led, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally conscious. I spent over a year working on the concept before the pandemic began.”

Today, three years after launch, al.ive body has over 50 product lines, more than 750 stockists and is tracking to turn $15 million in FY23.

This phenomenal growth earned Fraser the title of First Among Equals at the InDaily 40 Under 40 Awards and a place in the now 240-strong alumni network of young leaders in South Australia.

“Winning the First Among Equals award is a testament to the collective efforts and dedication of our entire team,” Fraser said.

“Their commitment, hard work, and relentless pursuit of excellence have made this moment possible. Lysandra and I have lived and breathed al.ive body for the last several years and it was a true honour to be recognised for all our efforts.”

Fraser said the team was passionate about changing the space of interior design to not only include high-end product design and integrity but to also meet the needs of the growing conscious consumer.

“We deliver 40 per cent of our sales via wholesale trade and 60 per cent via e-commerce channels. We have 18 staff within our growing team, all working from our offices in Somerton Park, Adelaide,” she said.

Fraser said part of the success is their work to understand its consumer and serve their needs and do this based on data derived from their 85,000 social media followers, 130,000 engaged email subscribers and 95,000 e-commerce customer profiles.

“Our customers are one of our most valuable assets, and we are fortunate to have fostered a very supportive base who believe in our brand,” she said.

“We don’t take this for granted and take great pride in our customer service and in maintaining the highest standard of customer care.”

One of their key strategies is achieving a 65 per cent growth target in the next financial year, which may come from a planned international expansion, which was a key metric of many of the 40 Under 40 winners this year.

“The future is very bright for al.ive body, with major innovation plans and new category launches on the horizon,” Fraser said.

“We have also recently hired our very first General Manager, Miriam Whitford, who brings a wealth of knowledge to the business.”

Fraser said the company also takes its governance and sustainability responsibilities seriously and therefore contributes to the community.

“We have woven environmental consciousness into the fabric of the brand,” Fraser said, adding they have permanently protected over 3,500 square meters of land for biodiversity and planted 76,000 trees.

“We were very proud to contribute to a local planting project in Cape Jervis where we planted 3,000 Drooping Sheoak trees to provide habitat and food source for the Black Glossy Cockatoo,” she said.

Fraser said the 40 Under 40 has placed a spotlight on the business and established a strong foundation for them to attract new customers and talent and she looks forward to joining the 240 other alumni.

“I am looking forward to becoming a part of this impressive business group!” Fraser said.
