Affordable school holiday fun

There’s no excuse for staying at home these school holidays with a heap of affordable activities in Adelaide to keep the kids entertained.

From soaking up the colour and activity in the bustling Adelaide Central Market to getting their hands dirty in a cooking class with former MasterChef contestant Callum Hann, introducing the kids to fresh and healthy food has never been easier. For those with a sweet tooth, join a free tour at Haigh’s Chocolate Factory to see the chocolates being made and to discover the heritage behind Adelaide’s oldest chocolate manufacturer.

Another great way to get the kids out of the house is to hire a free loan bike from Adelaide City Council and ride along the River Torrens, free of cars and traffic. Ride west past the horses to discover the beach or head east past playgrounds and picnic areas to the hills.

Alternatively, head to the western edge of the city to Bonython Park where there are two playgrounds, a Magic Forest Trail, a totem pole display and a fantastic lake where you can sail your model boat. In the city’s east, there’s Rymill Park where you can hire a row boat from the kiosk and have an afternoon out on the water.
