The multinational defence and engineering firm today announced the appointment of Dean Rosenfield as its new chief executive.

Rosenfield is currently chief marketing officer and managing director of Saab UK.

He has been with the Swedish aerospace and defence company since 2001 and spent nearly five years as Saab Australia managing director from 2013 to 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to Saab, Rosenfield served in the Australian Army from 1985 to 1999.

Rosenfield, who has said that he is returning to Australia for family reasons, is due to start with Nova Systems on March 1, 2024.

“Dean brings a wealth of experiences which are well aligned with Nova Systems and will be critical to the achievement of our growth strategy,” Nova Systems chair Ken Williams said.

“We wish Dean every success in this role and look forward to seeing Nova grow and flourish under his leadership.”

Rosenfield replaces former Nova Systems CEO Jim McDowell, who left the company in July to take on a role as deputy secretary, naval building and sustainment at the Department of Defence.

Nova Systems executive Steven Robinson has been serving as acting CEO since McDowell’s departure. He will return to his former role of chief operating officer when Rosenfield commences as CEO.

Nova Systems ranked 28th on InDaily’s 2022 South Australian Business Index. The company employs more than 850 people across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Singapore and Norway, according to its website.
