Triple M has continued its dominance of the Adelaide airwaves in the fourth radio ratings survey of the year, with its closest competitor Mix 102.3 sliding yet again.

The Franklin Street station was the number one overall in Adelaide for the second survey in a row, securing 13.7 per cent of total listenership across all time slots.

Its breakfast show, helmed by Mark Ricciuto, Laura O’Callaghan and Chris Dittmar, nabbed a back-to-back win too, boasting 14.5 per cent of total listenership during the key timeslot – up from 13.7 per cent last survey.

In the fourth radio ratings survey of the year – tracking listenership over a period from 14 April to 22 June – Mix 102.3 came in at second, falling nearly two percentage points.

It’s a similar story this survey for Mix, which suffered a wipeout last survey, losing ground overall and in every timeslot across the week and on the weekend.

Nova 91.9 and SAFM landed in equal third place this survey with 9.4 per cent of the total market share over the week, while Cruise and ABC share the equal fifth position at 8.6 per cent.

FIVEaa sits at the bottom of the pile in Adelaide overall, with 8.4 per cent of market share; the same percentage share it had last survey when it was in fifth place above Cruise and ABC.

But the station’s breakfast show – led by Will Goodings and David Penberthy – is performing well, coming in second overall at 12.2 per cent of market share which is no change from the third survey released in June.

The ABC breakfast show, hosted by Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller, enjoyed another gain in the latest survey, rising by half a percentage point to 12.1 per cent of market share in the timeslot.

Mix 102.3, SAFM, Nova and Cruise round out the rankings in breakfast, with Mix falling by 0.6 percentage points.

By demographics, Triple M is most popular with the 18 to 24-year-old group and maintains its popularity right up to the 55 to 64-year-old population.

For those aged 65 and older, ABC Adelaide is the station of choice with a whopping 23.9 per cent market share of the eldest demographic.

The state’s teenagers are yet again tuning into Nova 91.9, where it enjoys a healthy lead at 19.6 per cent market share; a big improvement on the last survey when it held 16.2 per cent of teen listeners.

By timeslot, Triple M’s lead in breakfast translates into a win in the morning slot (9am-midday).

In the afternoon period, listeners prefer Triple M, and for the drive home there’s nearly a three-way-tie between Mix (11.2 per cent), Triple M (11.6 per cent) and Nova (11.1 per cent).

FIVEaa’s evening show with Leith Forrest is Adelaide’s most popular for that time slot, a back-to-back win for the veteran presenter.

ABC’s newly appointed evening presenter Jason Chong, who replaced Peter Goers, hasn’t enjoyed the success of his predecessor and has just 7.2 per cent of market share in this latest survey in his timeslot.

On the weekends, Adelaide listeners are turning into Triple M which enjoys 13.1 per cent of listenership, followed by Mix at 10 per cent and Nova at 9.5 per cent.
