For the third survey in a row, the ABC’s local station has topped the ratings, thanks to leading performances in breakfast and mornings.

However, its rivals have closed the gap in GfK survey five, released this morning.

The ABC’s breakfast duo of Stacey Lee and Nikolai Beilharz retained their lead in the important shift, despite losing 2.3 percentage points of listener share.

The number two team, FIVEaa’s David Penberthy and Will Goodings, had a strong survey, putting on two percentage points, but still trail the ABC by a wide margin – 13.8 to 16.6.

Ali Clarke’s breakfast program on Mix 102.3 bounced back from a very poor previous survey to put on 1.1 percentage points to reach 8 per cent, but is still lagging its FM rivals including Triple M (10 per cent), Nova (10.8) and SAFM (8.6).

The ABC’s David Bevan held his strong lead in the mornings shift, despite losing share. Mix has kept the lead in the afternoon and SAFM maintains its top position in Drive.

In the evenings, FIVEaa – with Jon Blake from 7-8pm and Matthew Pantelis from 8pm to midnight – strengthened its position, with the ABC’s Peter Goers losing significant share to drop into third place behind Mix.

Overall, ABC Radio Adelaide’s lead has been narrowed, with the station losing 1.9 percentage points to drop from 13.6 to 11.7.

Most of the ABC stations, including three of its four national channels, lost share in this survey, taken from May 22 to June 25, and from July 10 to August 13. However, the national broadcaster still reached nearly a quarter of radio listeners in Adelaide (23.7 per cent across all ABC stations).

Nova has leapfrogged Mix into second place thanks to strong performances in breakfast and mornings, in particular.

Mix – for years Adelaide’s leading station – is in unaccustomed territory in third place, but has at least stabilised its listener base.

Cruise, Triple M and SAFM are locked together, all on 10.2 per cent of share, with FIVEaa again in last place of local stations, despite the biggest overall improvement (up 0.9 percentage points).
