Seven Network announces new Adelaide news director

Seven Network has announced the appointment of Mark Mooney as 7NEWS Adelaide News Director.

The award-winning journalist joined 7News Adelaide in 2008 and has been Deputy News Director since 2021.

Mooney succeeds Chris Salter, who was appointed Director of News in Seven Melbourne last month.

A new CEO at Food South Australia

Food South Australia has announced Tori Dixon-Whittle as its CEO, to commence on July 8.

Dixon-Whittle has three decades of entrepreneurial and leadership experience in the tourism, education and manufacturing sectors.

Dixon-White is currently CEO of the Cedars, Hans Heysen Foundation. She is also CEO and Founder of TDW Consulting Vietnam and has previously served as the Vice-President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam.

According to Food South Australia, it is the state’s peak body for the food and beverage manufacturing industry.

Long-serving Argo Investments CFO retires

Argo Investments has announced the retirement of long-serving Chief Financial Officer Andrew Hill, who will depart on August 31.

Hill started at Argo as an accountant in 1993 and has been CFO since 2010.

Stephen Mortimer, who is currently the Finance Officer at Argo, will take over as CFO on September 1.

Mortimer joined Argo as Operations Officer in 2012 and was promoted to Finance Officer in 2023.

Before joining Argo, he worked in the accounting firms Deloitte and Shulz Hobbs.

Argo is an investment company founded in 1946 and based in Adelaide.

Hitting the high notes

The Adelaide City of Music has appointed Andrew Culley as the Chair of its board.

Culley, who is retired, spent 14 years at Deloitte Australia, where he was most recently Managing Director of Deloitte Private.

He also spent over 10 years as a Management Consulting Partner at mhm.

Culley takes over from Professor Graeme Koehne AO, who has served as the chair for the past eight years.

ACOM has also welcomed Ruth Mackenzie to the Board of Directors.

Mackenzie has over 40 years of experience in the arts sector and is currently serving a three-year term as Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival.

The Adelaide City of Music is the representative organisation to promote Adelaide as a UNESCO City of Music.

Leadership change at South Australian Film Corporation

The South Australian Film Corporation has appointed Leanne Saunders as Head of Production and Development, to commence on June 24.

SAFC said that Saunders is an experienced and respected production executive who has spent the past eight years as Head of Development and Production at the New Zealand Film Commission.

Prior to this, she launched Piki Films with Taika Waititi and Carthew Neal, which has produced several popular movies including JoJo Rabbit (2019) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016).

The SAFC is a government organisation that has produced movies including Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), Storm Boy (1976) and Breaker Morant (1980).

Experienced business leader joins Adelaide Uni Council

Lovisa Holdings’ Non-Executive Director John Charlton has joined as a member of the University of Adelaide Council.

Charlton has over 38 years of experience in the retail business in Australia and is the founder, owner and managing director of Spendless Shoes Pty Ltd.

Charlton has also been a member of the University of Adelaide Finance Committee since 2015.

Changes at the Australian Dance Theatre Board

Dr Tracey Dodd

The Australian Dance Theatre has announced the appointment of Jo O’Callaghan, Dr Tracey Dodd, Katie McLeish and Kate Hitchin for a three-year term.

O’Callaghan is currently the Executive Director of Programs & Development at the Adelaide Fringe and has worked extensively in the cultural sector.

McLeish has an international career in the arts and not-for-profit sectors and was recently the Chief Operating Officer of Welcome to Country – a First Nations-operated social enterprise.

Hitchen has over 23 years of experience in finance and is currently the Group Finance Director at Hender Consulting.

Dodd is an academic and non-executive director who currently oversees research development within the Adelaide Business School at the University of Adelaide.

Founded in Adelaide in 1965, the Australian Dance Theatre is Australia’s oldest continuing contemporary dance company.

New GoGo board appointments

GOGO Foundation has announced three new board appointments – Naomi Riach as Secretary, Nick Whalan as Treasurer and Andrea Heading.

Riach is currently the Senior Manager of Specialist Teams at Westpac, where she has been since November 2020.

She previously undertook an internship at GOGO Foundation in the Board Observership Program.

Whelan is currently the Director of Global Investment Services and Private Wealth at Westpac Group and has also worked at St. James’s Place Wealth Management and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Heading has over three decades of media and marketing experience and is currently the CEO of the Real Estate Institute of South Australia.
