Former minister joins West Beach Parks

Former state MP and minister Leesa Chesser has been appointed as Non-Executive Director at West Beach Parks.

Chesser was Member for Taylor from 2010-2018 and Minister for Disabilities, Mental Health and Substance Abuse under Premier Jay Weatherill.

Chesser’s other recent roles include Non-Executive Director at the Adelaide Festival, Neami National and Community Options Australia. She was also an Independent Non-Executive Director at the Australian Physiotherapy Association and a Director at Blue Sky Consulting Australia.

West Beach Parks is comprised of BIG4 Holiday Park and the Retreat at West Beach.

Seeking a new direction

Digital infrastructure group iseek has appointed Scott Hicks as CEO.

Hicks has 30 years of experience in information sources and was Co-founder and Managing Director of Adam Internet for 16 years, until it was acquired by iiNet/TPG for $60 million in 2013.

For almost nine years, Hicks has been CEO at the data centre YourDC. He is also Director and Owner at the telecommunications company Astelec and a Member of YPO, an organisation for chief executives.

Before this, Hicks was a Board Member of the State Library of South Australia and the Australian Institute of Management-SA.

iseek is an Australian data centre founded in 1998.

New director at Resolution Minerals

Syed Alsagoff has been appointed to the role of Non-Executive Director at Resolution Minerals Ltd.

Alsagoff has spent over 20 years in senior operational and corporate leadership roles, with experience in investment and corporate strategy in Asia and globally.

Resolution Metals is based on King William Street. According to its website, it “is a mineral exploration company engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of precious and battery metals – such as gold, copper, cobalt, and uranium”.

New board members at Hutt St Centre

Hutt St Centre has appointed two new board members: Gaby Hummel and Dr Mark Mackay.

Dr Mackay has been Director and Co-Owner of Complete the Picture Consulting for the past 14 years. He is also an Adjunct Professor at James Cook University and he was previously a Professor of Health Service Management at the University of South Australia and Acting Head and a Professor of Health Care Management at Flinders University.

Mackay has also been on various boards and is currently a member of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health, Data Management Association Australia and the Australian Evaluation Society.

Hummel has an extensive background in strategic engagement and policy. She has been at the Don Dunstan Foundation for over 11 years, where she has held the roles of Acting Executive Director and Member of the Committee of Management.

Among her various other roles, she has also been the Chief of Staff/Senior Adviser in the Office of Hon Katrine Hildyard MP, a Market Operations Manager at the National Disability Insurance Agency, and worked for over nine years in the Department of Human Services SA.

Mackay and Hummel have replaced Andrew Cohen, who stepped down from the board on June 30, 2023, and Heather Parkes, who completed her tenure in November.

From wine to pipes

Kris Powell has started the role of General Manager, Marketing and Export at Australian pipe fitting manufacturer Philmac.

In this new role, Powell will oversee global exports and help to identify new markets with a focus on digital strategy.

Prior to joining Philmac, Powell worked for over eight years as Group Marketing Manager (Head of Marketing) at Stratco Australia.

Before this, he was at Pernod Ricard Winemakers for more than 11 years, where he was Global Marketing Manager of Jacob’s Creek and Senior Brand Manager of ABSOLUT VODKA, among other roles.

Siblings Australia board renewal

Siblings Australia has announced that Peter Gill has retired as Chair and will be replaced by Samantha Hellams, while Emily Caska has joined as the new Board Director.

Hellams is currently the Chief Executive at the Adelaide-based disability services provider disAbility Living.

Caska is currently the Chief Executive of Down Syndrome NSW and has 20 years of experience in executive leadership in the disability, child protection, foreign affairs and corporate sectors.

A promotion at Lynch Meyer Lawyers

Adelaide-based Commercial law firm Lynch Meyer Lawyers has announced the promotion of Kyle Lawson to Special Counsel.

Lawson has been at Lynch Meyer Lawyers for the past seven years and was previously a Senior Associate, an Associate and a Solicitor.

He is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin and a long-term member of the firm’s Asia Practice and Property teams.
