Gibson Wines wins People’s Choice award

Gibson Wines was awarded the People’s Choice award in the 2025 Halliday Wine Companion Awards in Melbourne, against more than 1100 Australian competitors.

The award is based on criteria including cellar door experience, staff, scenic views and overall wine quality, the only award in the annual Wine Companion honours voted for by the public.

“Winning the 2025 Halliday People’s Choice Award is an incredible honour,” said co-founder Rob Gibson.

“The Gibson team is small but mighty. We strike a beautiful balance of passion and professionalism. Family members directly involved (my wife Anne and son Adam) are supported by wine business professionals at the top of their game. It is this blend that really drives our success.”

Reduced methane beef export commitment

CH4 Global and CirPro (Australia) have signed an agreement for the first shipment of Australian “reduced methane” beef to be exported later this year after trials of CH4’s Methane Tamer supplement in South Australia.

The companies have committed to increasing the commercial supply and offtake of CH4’s supplement, which is made from asparagopsis seaweed.

“Feeding these cows Methane Tamer has ensured that we’ve been able to lower methane emissions and significantly lower the carbon footprint of the beef,” CirPro (Australia) CEO Reg Smyth said.

“Based on 100 cattle in a feedlot for 100 days, we can eliminate the equivalent GHG emissions of driving a petrol-powered passenger vehicle at least 100 times between Sydney and Perth, or the equivalent amount of carbon sequestered by 1500 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.

“While we cannot disclose the first export customer’s name just yet, the beef will be EU-compliant.”

FedEx Adelaide facility launches new technology

FedEx has launched Dynamic Drive-through Pallet (DTP) Dimensioning Systems at its Adelaide facility, with laser dimensioning technology and RFID forklift tagging changing the way pallets are measured and weighed.

Since being implemented in the US, the DTP system has more than doubled the handling speed for bulk shipments, reaching 400 bulk shipments per hour per device.

As pallets go through the DTP system, measurements and weight are precisely captured in real-time that are legal for trade certified, eliminating the need for manual measurement and stop-start activity.

“We are dedicated to embracing innovations that elevate our operational capabilities and service offerings,” said FedEx Australasia vice president Peter Langley.
