Managing the direction of Sealink

Kelsian – Australia’s largest multi-modal transport provider and tourism operator which owns and runs Sealink Travel Group – has appointed Clint Feuerherdt as Managing Director.

Feuerherdt has been the group’s Chief Executive Officer since 2020 following the acquisition of the Transit Systems Group.

He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Public Transport Association Australia and New Zealand in addition to Ormiston College in Brisbane.

He also holds Executive Director roles for Kelsian subsidiary companies in Singapore and the USA.

New members for Planning Commission

South Australia’s independent Planning Commission has appointed three new members, expanding the team to seven under the leadership of Chair Craig Holden.

David O’Loughlin was Mayor of the City of Prospect from 2006 to 2022.

He was the Director of Major Projects for Renewal SA and President of the Local Government Association of South Australia.

O’Loughlin is currently the Chair of Blackfriars Priory School, a Board Member for Renewal SA, the Director of The Cottage Homes Inc. and a Member of the National Housing Supply and Affordability Council for the Commonwealth Government.

Lisa Teburea is the current Director of BRM Advisory – an Adelaide-based business management consultancy.

She is the former Acting Manager of Strategic Planning for the City of Holdfast Bay and was the Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Local Government Association of South Australia.

John Stimson has over three decades of experience as an Urban Geographer, Town Planner and Project Manager having worked on urban development projects across the state with Fyfe Pty Ltd, Fairmont Group and Connor Holmes.

Stimson and Teburea join the Planning Commission as they conclude their commission as Members of the State Government’s Expert Panel Planning System Implementation Review.

Taking on the top job

Defence, Aviation and Critical Services company Babcock Australasia has appointed Andrew Cridland as Chief Executive Officer.

Cridland, who has worked at Babcock since 2015, takes the top job from his current role as Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining the international defence company, Cridland worked for several large organisations including Royal Dutch Shell, the Australian Submarine Corporation and Greencap.

The appointment comes after current Chief Executive Officer David Ruff announced his retirement after 15 years with the company.

A search is currently underway to fill the Chief Financial Officer role.

Flying to a new position

Adelaide Airport Ltd (AAL) has promoted Tom Ganley to Executive General Manager of Parafield Airport.

Ganley takes on the role from his position as AAL’s Executive General Manager of Corporate Affairs which he held for the past 15 months.

Before joining AAL, Ganley was the Chief Financial Officer, Company Secretary and Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Airport Development Group – the owners and operators of Darwin International, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek Airports.

He is a Director and immediate past Chair of the Australian Airports Association.

He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Governance Institute of Australia and CPA in addition to holding an International Airport Professional designation. 

Philip Roberts

Kent Thiele

Tennis SA changeover

Phillip Roberts has been appointed to lead the Board of Tennis SA as President.

Roberts has served on the Tennis SA Board for 17 years, eight of them as Vice President.

He is also President of the Adelaide Benevolent Society Board and a Member of the Wallis Cinemas Board.

Roberts takes the reigns from outgoing President Kent Thiele who served on the board for three decades.

Starting on the Executive Board of the South Australian Hardcourt Tennis League in 1993, Thiele became an inaugural board member when Tennis SA was formed in July 1996.

He was appointed Vice President in 2005 and became President in 2015.

Thiele will continue his involvement with the sport as Chairperson of Tennis SA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and as Chairperson of Tennis SA’s Reconciliation Action Plan working group.

Sanjugta Vas Dev

Managing for justice

The Don Dunstan Foundation – a South Australian charity focusing on social justice issues through public events, collaborative projects and research – has appointed Sanjugta Vas Dev to its Committee of Management.

Vas Dev is the current Director of the Office for Women in the Department of Human Services.

She has held various State Government roles spanning disability, public housing, education and child protection.

Vas Dev has a PhD in Political Science and formerly worked as a researcher and consultant for Flinders University and the University of Adelaide focusing on gender and youth in international development. 

Rachel Gardner

On board

Film Producer Rachel Gardner has been appointed to the Board of the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC). 

Gardner is the Creative Director of the production company Curio Pictures which produced shows including Love Child for Nine Network, Bloom for Stan and The Code for ABC.

She produced Thomas M Wright’s film The Stranger and was the creative lead producer for the South Australian-made First Nations vampire hunter series Firebite which launched AMC+ in Australia.

Gardner’s other credits include the Sundance Film Festival jury-winning film Slow West, the acclaimed series The End and both seasons of Netflix original series The New Legends of Monkey.

Perks of the job

Adelaide accounting and wealth advisory firm Perks has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of a new Director and two Associate Directors.

Associate Director Sam Hicks has been promoted to Director.

Hicks joined the company in 2015 and was appointed Associate Director in 2021.

He is an Authorised Representative of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) and a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

Lee Jurga and Nicholas Bromell have been promoted to Associate Director roles.

Jurga previously worked at RevenueSA as a Senior Taxation Specialist.

He has also held Consultant and Associate roles with the law firms Ernst & Young and Thomson Geer.

Bromell joined Perks in 2021 from the firm Nexia Edwards Marshall where he was Senior Manager of Assurance Services.

He began his career as an Accountant with Perks in 2009 and also worked as an Accountant for Aintree Group in Melbourne.

BBS Family Lawyers and Mediators has appointed two new members after incorporating the practice of Cardone & Associates.

Rosie Cardone, who founded Cardone & Associates in 1994 as Principal, joins the team as Special Counsel.

She is an accredited Family Law Mediator who began her legal career in 1976 when the Family Law Act first came into operation.

Prior to founding her boutique law firm, Cardone worked as a Lawyer for Alderman Redman Cardone and as a Lawyer for Ross McCarthy & Nosworthy.

Lori Caruso has joined BBS Lawyers as an Associate.

Caruso was previously the Legal Associate to the Honourable Justice Berman in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division One).

Caruso is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia.

She is a current Member of the Law Society of South Australia and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.

Timothy Graham

Special Counsel for Wallmans Lawyers

Tim Graham has been appointed Special Counsel of the Business and Commercial Team for Wallmans Lawyers.

He joins the company from humm Group Limited, an ASX-listed organisation where he was General Counsel.

Graham held a voluntary role as Business Career Mentor at the University of South Australia from 2012 to 2020.

He has previously held roles with Lancione Partners, Minter Ellison Lawyers, Fox Tucker Lawyers and Bambrick Legal.
