Adelaide Festival

The Adelaide Festival continues into its last weekend with highlights including Bangarra Dance Theatre’s contemporary dance performance Bennelong (Dunstan Playhouse), Palestinian theatre shows Taha and Azza (Space Theatre), and Swiss artist Mats Staub’s video installation 21: Memories of Growing Up (State Library). The Riverbank Palais will also celebrate its final weekend, with performances from Australian singer-songwriter Archie Roach and American Vikki Thorn (tonight) and electronic artist Lauv (Saturday). It’s also the final days of the 2018  Adelaide Fringe, with this weekend’s highlights including acrobatics from Circus Abyssinia: Ethiopian Dreams (Royal Croquet Club), Michael Griffiths’ Kylie Minogue tribute show Lucky: Songs by Kylie (Garden of Unearthly Delights), and YouTube comedian Alex Williamson’s stand-up show So Wrong, It’s Wrong (Arkaba Hotel). 2018 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art

The Art Gallery of SA, Samstag Museum of Art, Jam Factory and Adelaide Botanic Gardens are hosting exhibitions in this year’s Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art. Thirty Australian artists interpret the theme Divided Worlds through photography, painting, sculpture, installation and moving image. On Tuesday, the Art Gallery will host a lunchtime talk, during which assistant curator of Australian paintings and sculpture Elle Freak will introduce the work of colourful installation artist Pip and Pop. A Day on the Green – Leconfield Wines

Rock groups The Living End, Spiderbait, Veruca Salt, Tumbleweed and The Fauves will perform at Leconfield Wines at McLaren Vale this Saturday as part of A Day on the Green. The music festival is fully licensed, with food available on-site. Camping chairs and picnic rugs are recommended. Gates open at 2pm. More information, including ticket purchases, here.

St Patrick’s Day – Adelaide Oval

The Adelaide Irish Club will host an all-ages event at the Adelaide Oval’s Telstra Plaza to celebrate St Patrick’s Day this Saturday. Guinness will flow on-tap and Jameson-inspired cocktails and traditional Irish food will be on offer. Celtic and Irish-inspired bands including Ceol Maith, Mollydooker, Folk n Spicy, Gallowglass, Shambolics, Timbers and The Borderers will perform live. ASO’s Bernstein on Stage – Festival Theatre

Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will mark the 100^th anniversary of the birth of American composer Leonard Bernstein with a “musical extravaganza” of some of his greatest hits this Friday and Sunday night. Leading the centenary celebration will be Bernstein’s apprentice and conductor John Mauceri. Expect highlights from West Side Story, On the Town, Trouble in Tahiti, Wonderful Town and Candide. Details here.

Alliance Française French Film Festival – Palace Nova Cinemas

The annual Alliance Française French Film Festival begins next Thursday at the Palace Nova East End and Prospect cinemas. This year the festival will screen 50 films over one month. Iconic French actors including Juliette Binoche, Vincent Cassel, Vanessa Paradis, Isabelle Huppert and Gérard Depardieu will star in the selection of comedy, drama, romance, biopic, period and animated feature films. Open Air Cinemas – Glenelg Beach

Michelle Williams stars in Ridley Scott’s 2017 crime thriller All the Money in the World, which is screening at the Open Air Cinemas on Glenelg Beach tonight. Also screening this week are Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (Saturday), Pitch Perfect 3 (Sunday), The Shape of Water (Tuesday), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (Wednesday) and The Post (Thursday). DJs will entertain crowds on Friday evenings and food sampling will take place on Sundays. Dogs are welcome at all screenings. Gates open at 6pm and films begin at sundown.
