Pindarie Cellar Door is celebrating its second national win in a row.

A Barossa Valley winery and a Yorke Peninsula beach house have claimed top honours in the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Adelaide.

Pindarie Cellar Door in the Barossa Valley was named Australia’s best tourism winery and Yondah Beach House took out the award for best deluxe accommodation in a ceremony at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

It is Pindarie Cellar Door’s second consecutive national win, overcoming strong competition this year from James Boag’s Brewery in Tasmania and Margan Wines in New South Wales.

It offers premium wines for tasting and sale, regional food, heritage, family attraction and hospitality.

Yondah Beach House – also a winner in the South Australian Tourism Awards last year –  beat deluxe accommodation providers from around the country, including Avalon Coastal Retreat and Macquarie Waters Boutique Apartment Hotel.

The architect-designed beach hideaway is set on 300 oceanfront acres, with private beaches, dramatic cliff top walks and panoramic views to Kangaroo Island.

South Australian businesses also secured five silver medals:

– The Barossa Visitor Centre (visitor information and services);
– SeaLink Ferries Tours & Holiday Packages (major tour / transport operator);
– Rawnsley Park Station Eco-Villas (unique accommodation);
– The Frames (new tourism development); and
– And the Barossa Council (local government award for tourism).

And Hahndorf business Udder Delights Cheese Cellar took out bronze in the food tourism category.

Chief executive of the SA Tourism Industry Council Ward Tilbrook said the awards would help raise the state’s tourism profile around the country.

“These wins not only raise South Australia’s profile in the Australian tourism industry but also places our magnificent regions on the tourism map,” he said.

“This is a great result for the State and is excellent recognition of the hard work and innovation of the people at the front line of our tourism industry.

“We should all be very proud of their achievements.”
