Few gave the Crows any chance to win this one, least of all our Fumbles correspondent. But in the end, a narrow against-the-odds win on the road – led by a four-goal captain’s haul – felt like a little bit of history repeating. Much like yet another Port loss to Geelong.
As evidenced by five losses in their past six meetings, Geelong have done plenty wrong in their most recent AFL encounters with Sydney.
Ruckman Sam Naismith has recovered from a hip injury, leaving Sydney with a huge selection call to make ahead of their final AFL game of the regular season.
Buddy’s brilliant goal shouldn’t have happened and Sam Reid shouldn’t have been in a position to kick a crucial goal that turned the game late in Sydney’s thrilling three-point win over Adelaide.
Having spent the entire season being despondent despite Adelaide’s sparkling form, our Fumbles correspondent is today perversely upbeat about the weekend’s loss to Sydney. For now, at least.
