Harry Kane scored twice and Christian Eriksen got the other as Tottenham kept their title hopes on track with a convincing victory overnight, Australian time.

Kane’s double had them 2-0 up within 16 minutes and Eriksen’s second-half goal sealed victory to reduce the gap at the top to five points with seven games to go.

City’s chances look over as they were beaten 1-0 at home by United, with Marcus Rashford grabbing the only goal.

The result left City still fourth, 15 points behind Leicester having played one game less.

United are sixth, level on points with West Ham in fifth and one point behind City.

Earlier, Southampton all but ended Liverpool’s outside hopes of a top-four spot as they scored three second-half goals to win their clash 3-2 on Sunday.

Liverpool led 2-0 at half-time through Phillip Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, but Sadio Mane scored twice and Graziano Pelle got the other as Southampton completely a stunning turnaround.

“The first half we played brilliant football but we have to close the game out,” Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said.

“You have to accept in the second half they controlled the game.”

The result moved Southampton up to seventh while Liverpool remained ninth, three points further back.

“It was a must-win game, the same as last week,” Southampton manager Ronald Koeman said.
