La Rocca appeared to send a stray elbow into the face of Sydney FC forward Matt Simon in a ground-level clash during the 2-2 draw at Coopers Stadium on Friday night.

The pair brought each other to ground after a challenge with La Rocca’s offending action coming as he returned to his feet.

The match review panel has authority to rule on the clash after both the referee and linesman missed the incident.

The 31-year-old must account for his actions by this afternoon or is likely to miss his club’s trip to play Central Coast on Sunday.

Simon recovered to head an equalising goal for Sydney FC in the first half while La Rocca was substituted just prior to halftime.

The Italian said a groin complaint was unlikely to lead to any further time out.
