Dropped Hope ‘must adjust’ to AFLW

Dropped marquee forward Moana Hope must add to her game to regain a place in Collingwood’s AFLW team, assistant coach Daniel Harford says.

Hope was dropped for the Magpies’ clash with Fremantle in Perth on Saturday after an ineffectual performance in their season-opening loss to Carlton at Princes Park.

The full-forward has failed to live up the hype created when she slotted six goals in the 2016 All-Star exhibition game and became the de facto face of AFLW.

Tried in the midfield against Carlton last week, she had just six disposals.

“You’ve got to perform at this level,” Collingwood senior assistant coach Daniel Harford told RSN on Friday.

“She’s got to adapt to the game. The bear in the square is not going to last in AFLW.

“You got to have more to your bow.”

Hope will be joined on the sidelines by Sarah D’Arcy, who copped a two-match ban for kicking Carlton’s Sarah Hosking in the groin.

The Dockers’ Lara Filocamo has been called back into the 21 after defender Brianna Green withdrew on Friday because of injury.
