The AFL today revealed its preseason fixture, continuing its trial game format with a strong emphasis on suburban grounds around the country.

The Power will face St Kilda in Melbourne on a Thursday night (February 23) before hosting Richmond in Mount Gambier (Sunday, March 5) and the Hawks at Noarlunga the following Sunday, with a one-week break before its first minor round match.

The Crows also play Richmond, in an Etihad Stadium clash on Friday, February 24, but thereafter remain in Adelaide, facing Patrick Dangerfield’s Cats at Richmond Oval on Sunday, March 5 and Brisbane at Hickinbotham Oval the following Saturday.

With the naming rights sponsor becoming insurance broker JLT (Jardine Lloyd Thompson) under a three-year arrangement, the rebadged competition will see all 18 teams play three matches across a four-week period between Thursday, February 16 and Sunday, March 12.

It will open with a bang, as Essendon’s returning players play a blockbuster against arch-rivals Collingwood at Etihad Stadium.

North Melbourne’s Arden St home will host an AFL match for the first time since 1985, when they play Hawthorn on February 26.

Matches will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and through the AFL Live App.
