Maxwell continues the Big Show

Apr 23, 2014

Australian Glenn Maxwell has continued his scintillating form in the Indian Premier League with another big score – but it took a dropped catch by another Aussie to allow him to do it.

Maxwell’s 95, including five fours and nine sixes, was enough for his Kings XI Punjab side to score an easy 72-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

However, Maxwell had a couple of strokes of good luck in his innings on Tuesday.

Maxwell was dropped by compatriot David Warner on 11 and was caught when on 62, only for the decision to be overturned after video replays showed a no-ball from spinner Darren Sammy.

Maxwell is the IPL’s top scorer so far this season, belting 279 runs at an average of 93 in three matches.

He’s called “The Big Show, a title given to him by his Australian teammate Mathew Wade in 2013.

Kings XI Punjab’s 6-193 proved more than enough after being sent in when Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss.
