Your views: on axing road upgrades during a budget surplus
Reader contributions
Today, readers comment on shuffling taxpayer billions in Canberra, a crap Christmas gift, and a poem.

Commenting on the story: State govt holds out hope for road projects hit by federal cuts
It’s all smoke and mirrors. How can we possibly believe that the Federal Government is actually delivering a surplus when it has to cut vital infrastructure spending?

Commenting on the opinion piece: The crap gift that keeps on giving
Congratulations to Matthew Abraham for a superb piece of writing on the current outbreak of Covid-19 (or 24).
In a world full of lazy platitudes, this is a breathtaking example of what a pleasure good journalism can be. Full of information, free of malice, clean as an inhalation of sea air. – Kate Llewellyn.
Commenting on the Poem: My Boy, after Tu Fu
I love that line – A thousand pieces of gold splashed on the pondage.
The whole poem is illuminating. Thank you. – Jenny Esots
