The behaviour of the people verbally heckling professor Spurrier is beyond disgusting. It was in my view threatening a member of the public service. I’m surprised no one has been charged by police. What I saw was not free speech, it was intimidation. – Jim Baker

I’m sure I will be joining a chorus of wellwishers for Prof Nicola Spurrier. She has demonstrated a dedicated public service ethos – and perhaps her example shows the need for more recognition of the good our public service does for the community instead of the same old media brickbats.

It is shameful that this public health leader has had to duck the slings and arrows of rabid anti-vaxxers at the Supreme Court. No one could have shown more interest in the safety of South Australians over such a long haul and I wish to express my gratitude. – Elizabeth Ho

I am fully vaccinated. At 74, I believe it is in my best interests to be vaccinated. But I do that in the full knowledge that there are close to a thousand peer reviewed papers that describe a range of adverse consequences from the vaccinations.

The decision to mandate vaccinations was and is political. For those of us over 65 it makes some sense but for younger folk there are legitimate reasons not to be vaccinated.

Furthermore, the problems with these vaccines undermine a critical element in safeguarding public health: the confidence that the vaccines are in our interests. We cannot afford to weaken the credibility of proven vaccines such as those combating smallpox, whooping cough, polio or measles. – John Tons

Adelaide is a major city for goodness sake. Far too much is made of ‘Heritage’. It has to grow up and develop.

With all the newcomers proposed, living space is required and the city is ideal. Please not more fertile land used for housing. – Hermann Weber

What a joke to hold the final at midday. My partner and I and many like us who would have loved to have watched the game live will still be working on Saturday at 12. – Vicki Matchett

Many young women playing community footy won’t be able to watch the AFWL Final as many games do not finish before 2pm on Saturday. The final should be played at 4pm or later, or bye for all teams in that weekend. – Wendy Riemens
