Commenting on the opinion piece: Ali Clarke: Here’s to the women we don’t celebrate

So well written and so true. Not everyone can stand on a stage. Too many are the silent battlers and it’s those who inspire the next generation like yourself, and my children.

At the end of it all it’s just another day that we battle. Keep up the good work. – Maria Ballestrin

And here’s to the women who choose to stay home and raise the next generation. Just everyday women who work every bit as hard as those celebrated, who do it for love as reward because they certainly get nothing else. – Anne Sargeant

Thank you, Ali. What a beautiful tribute to your mum. She is an example of so many hard-working, kind, caring and compassionate women who don’t get any accolades for all their hard work. Instead, they dedicate their lives to the service of others.

Their grit and determination show the next generation that you don’t give up no matter how challenging the cards you have been dealt are. And they do it all with a smile, a hug, kind words and sage advice. These are the women that International Women’s Day really needs to celebrate. – Kate Grey

Ali, that brought a tear to my eye. Your mum must have done many lovely things to have a daughter as thoughtful and appreciative as you. – Ros Francis

Commenting on the story: Goodwood bikeway overpass project delayed after community backlash

My wife and I, as Goodwood residents and regular walkers in the are, are strongly opposed to the whole plan.

It is almost impossible to walk safely in this area now, without increasing the speed of cyclists any more. Stop any further visual vandalism now, whilst you still have the chance. Our once peaceful suburb is now just an obstruction in the path of unidentifiable cyclists. – Anthony Beaven

Commenting on Campaign Diary: Libs’ no-star green rating

Funny how both Lucas and Speirs had time to comment to the media at length about why they didn’t do the survey from SA’s peak environmental body, but couldn’t find the time to actually fill it out. – Michael Cornish

Commenting on the opinion piece: Metrics rule in in cultural Hunger Games

Brilliant analysis. We desperately need to get away from this narrow and utterly destructive view that ‘if you can’t count it, it doesn’t count’. – Al Rannie

Commenting on the opinion piece: The housing affordability crisis: Moving to solutions

There is no doubt that a lack of affordable housing is one of the main issues our community should care about. But the issue of housing affordability cannot be divorced from house prices.

While governments of all persuasions continue to introduce policies to support or elevate house prices, such as first home owner grants, capital gains tax concessions, and quarantining housing from means tests, the issue of housing unaffordability will not be alleviated. – Robert Bruce

Surely one of our hopeful political parties could promise some budget monies to build a number of Tiny Homes on some vacant land to assist those with families on a low income who are competing for ever diminishing rental accommodation.

These Tiny Homes are readily available on trailers for fast assembly at a cost of less than $50,000 each. When the rental housing sector becomes more affordable, these Tiny Homes could be sold off or used for temporary housing in times of disaster where a home becomes uninhabitable, including bushfires or extensive flooding. – Ella Tyler
